Places to visit in Japan Tokyo

1/4/2018

It's been a week since I came back from my holiday trip and I'm so missing Tokyo!  I absolutely love the winter weather because I get to dress up in layers, like a fashionista, and nobody will judge!  In Singapore, I gotta think twice even when I just wanna put on a leather biker jacket and head to the mall. urggghh.

Here's a few favorite places I have picked if you are visiting Tokyo one day.

Hie Shrine (日枝神社)

The torii gates at Hie Shrine is beautiful and iconic.  The temple is quiet and peaceful, when I was there with my family, there isn't a lot of tourists around.  Not what I expected because I was there during December and I thought it might be a peak season for tourists but no.  You can enjoy the scenery and slowly take your own pictures.

How to go:-
Take the Hanzomon Line to Nagatacho Station (Z04) > Alight and walk 5 mins to Akasaka-mitsuke station, exit station and walk to Hie Shrine via Sotobori-dori street

Tokyo Skytree Tower

Tokyo Skytree Tower is a must-visit for my family because my son is simply obsessed with tall towers. Haha.  This is a broadcasting, restaurant and observation tower in Tokyo.  You can purchase ticket and go up there to enjoy the magnificent views.  On a good weather, you can even spot the Mount Fuji! And we did!

Tokyo Skytree is at Oshiage Station.

Mount Fuji is pretty obvious in the photo below

TOKYO DISNEYLAND

Tokyo Disneyland is so crowded!  But it's a paradise for every children.  The Cinderella castle is so magical and beautiful at night you just have to experience it for yourself.  I did not manage to find the perfect spot to capture the best view of the castle because it's just so crowded that day but I still manage to witness the spectacular show!  Do add this into your list even if you don't have kids!  There's amazing fireworks at the end too!

I didn't have enough time to explore the whole of Disneyland because the kiddos couldn't last the whole night, they were tired.

SANRIO PUROLAND

You must visit Sanrio Puroland if you love sanrio characters, like me!  This place is overloaded with cuteness.  Every single stuff is Sanrio Characters themed!

How to go:-
Take Hanzomon Line Z14 -> Jimbocho Station (I10) Alight -> Take Shinjuku Line (S06) -> Shinjuku Station (S01) -> Sasazuka Station (Keio-Sagamihara Line, Hashimoto) -> Tama Center Station

*above is just for reference please ask for directions at the stations because the lines there are quite complicated.

Shinjuku

Shinjuku Station is a huge business, commercial, and entertainment center located atop the world's busiest railway station complex.  Just shopping and eating will keep you busy for a day.

Yup I was there in the day so I did not manage to capture the neon lightings.  But I did get to eat Taco Bell! (not avail in SG) Is it just me or the Quesadilla just taste so good?

DIVER CITY TOKYO PLAZA

Definitely a place for all gundam lovers!  You can witness the life-sized unicorn gundam statue transformation if you happen to be there at the right timing.  I did not manage to capture it though.  They have a couple of timings to take note but I'm not sure where to obtain that information. You can try googling it.

You can do a lot of shopping there as well.

Other places I have been to is Sensoji Temple, Nakamise Shopping Street, Harajuku, Shibuya, Ropponggi Hills, Ginza, Caretta Shiodome and Ueno Park.  I think I have covered quite many places in the span of 5-6 days.  But of course, for holiday, its never enough!  Tokyo is a really nice place and it's even cleaner than Singapore.  I never spotted a single cigarette butt during my whole trip!

And I love their toilets because every single public toilet/cubicle I went, they have  all these functions! It's my first time in Tokyo so I might sound very suaku about this but seriously they installed these in every public cubicles!  I wish Singapore will do the same one day.

I stayed in the Richmond Hotel Premier Tokyo and I love this hotel.  Our room is spacious enough for 3 adult and 2 children.  The bathroom is huge with an area for me to makeup and a separate section for the shower/bathtub with a full glass window view, though I didnt get to use it.  The toilet is separated.  Overall it's gorgeous and we had the perfect view too.  Our room view is just facing Mount Fuji.  It's so awesome.
